today was a school holiday for the kids -- County Fair Day --- seriously --- it was County Fair Day ...... so we went to the fair! :)

i let each of the kids choose 2 rides/games. unfortunately jillian was not tall enough for the rides - but she didn't seem to mind staying by mom

it was also difficult to find a ride that helen was tall enough for :) -- although not technically a ride - she enjoyed it!

the measuring stick to determine if you are tall enough to ride... i'll be honest i was sweating a bit wondering if helen would make the cut!

.... the Gravitron - or similar ride.... i can remember as a kid riding this one about 1,000 times at my dad's company picnic in Michigan. we rode it so many times in one day!

Graham thought these sheep were talking to him - he would "Baa" and they would "Baa" back at him :)

I was really amazed at how much each individual horse stall was decorated. these weren't even the most elaborate ones. some of them had mum plants on tables and pumpkins. some had pictures and even some fancy curtains up over the stalls. i didn't think the owners would appreciate me taking pictures, but i did manage to snap this quick picture of helen and her friend looking at the horses.
we walked through EVERY animal barn --- from pigs, to goats, to cows, to chickens and turkeys. i also managed to drag the kids through the 4-H craft barns - which I found particularly interesting.
tonight, when the kids were going to bed - i asked each one what there favorite thing was at the fair.
Graham = bumper cars
Jayden = bumper cars
Helen = Everything!
Jillian = the giraffes - the GIRAFFES I said to her!?! ---- then i asked her when she saw a giraffe at the fair.... i seemed to miss that exhibit :) she insisted that she saw a giraffe and i DID NOT argue with her :)

How fun! We always got out of school for the county fair when I was growing up. And EVERYBODY went to the Fair Parade. No giraffes at our fair, though. :)
