this morning jayden woke up with an itchy bug bite. he asked me if that bug's mommy made him have a timeout for biting him. jayden said "it's not nice for that bug to take such a big bite out of my back!"
i can just picture what's going through his mind as he's thinking about this "bite" and the bug being in timeout :)

it's not fair!!
this summer, it seems like my kids have been saying this phrase to me quite often... well tonight it's my turn :)
it's not fair that my husband got to take a 2 hour nap this afternoon. (he was planning to go for a long bike ride this afternoon while the kids napped... you know training for his triathlon in august!!!)
so here's what's not fair....AFTER his nap - he went for his long bike ride! urg! it's not fair!! :)

fixed a fish!
nope! not the kind that you eat... jayden got this plastic fish at the store.. when you pull the string - the tail moves and the fish swims in the water. i'm so proud of myself for fixing (the string would not retract) this fish (i took a picture and i'll post it soon!)
i have a chemical engineering degree - so i'm not a very mechanical person.. those FBD (free body diagrams) from statics (a mechanical engineering course) used to really confuse me!!! but i can balance the heck out of a chemical equation!!!!

708 miles in 3 days with 3 kids
yes! i travelled 708 miles in 3 days with 3 kids!!!
my mom's family had a reunion picnic on sunday and i decided that saturday afternoon i'd take the 3 kids to minnesota for the reunion on sunday afternoon. then we drove back today (monday).
the kids were good.... helen slept most of the way and the boys watched movies. the most challenging thing was trying to use the bathroom in mcdonald's (yes, the small stall) with 3 kids all in the stall with me! do you know how many times i said "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!! i really had to use the bathroom, but didn't know where to put the kids! too bad i don't have a picture for that one!!! :)

mommy, you look handsome!
do i really look handsome? are my kids confused that i'm actually a GIRL and not a BOY! girls are pretty and boys are handsome.
jayden and graham keep telling me lately "mommy, you look handsome today!" of course, i say thank you! :)
i think it's maybe because i'm always telling them that they look handsome today (when they dress themselves)... or just the fact that they don't get the difference between girls and boys yet !!!

pool tramp
the other night i told ross that i feel like a pool tramp... let me explain. we've been getting bids for a pool in our backyard. one day last week, i met 2 "vendors" in one day within a few hours of eachother. i feel like i explain the same story to each vendor over and over during the bid process.

the sandman
can you please explain to me why it's so temping to eat SAND!!! yesterday i took the kids to the beach. helen was sitting on the towel playing with some toys when all of a sudden she reaches down - grabs a handful of sand - and proceeds to taste it!!
that evening, jayden and graham were playing in the sandbox. i noticed that jayden had some sand on the side of his mouth...

hotel underwear
you probably have never heard of this.... well it's because i made it up myself - let me explain:
when we travel with the kids i am always nervous that they might wet the bed (even though they wear underwear to bed at home with no problems). so i came up with the term "hotel underwear" which is really a pull-up (diaper). i bring these with me on trips and have the boys wear them each night...jayden is especially sensitive to the fact that he is convinced that this is not "hotel underwear" - but really a diaper! i tell him it's special underwear that we only wear in a hotel... he's still not convinced and last week while he was away in michigan he told me that his "hotel underwear" was ripping and that he needed to wear underwear to bed!!!

nice to meet you!
as many of you may know, ross took the kids to michigan for the week. helen and i stayed in kenosha and had a girl's week of sewing, shopping, and relaxing :)
well, last night when the boys got home - graham said to me "well, hi there - it's nice to meet you!!" i know they've been gone from me for a week...but did it only take a week for him to forget that i was his MOTHER!

....the one who was in labor over an entire weekend, the one who pushed for 3.5 hours only to have him come out with a cone head!!, the one who wiped (oh and sometimes still wipes) his bum for 3 years until he decided to become potty trained, the one who wipes up his crumbs after EVERY meal because he can't figure out how to eat over his plate, and finally (well, the list could really go on and on!) the one who calls him GRAMMIE-KINS!!

a mop
did you ever think a mop could be so exciting... well maybe that tells you a little about my life :)
on tuesday, i bought a new swiffer wet mop at sam's club... it's the coolest thing. it even takes batteries! i used it that night (at almost midnight) to scrub the kitchen floor and again tonight to scrub the bathroom floors.
i know... it's the little things in life that sometimes excite me!
