spring!

jillian helps me water the pansies that we planted last weekend
we bought our house in November --- we had no idea what kind of trees/landscaping we would end up with in the spring... it's been a pleasant surprise! so many flowering trees.
i love this tree... but it really bothers me that the tree trunk is crooked :)
jillian discovers the tulips we planted last fall

"look Helen!"

science geeks

ross and i volunteered to so some science experiments at the boy's school on Wednesday to kick off the science fair scheduled for the end of April.
"students - you can call me Professor Randolph" :)
1+1 = 3 or more :) ross demonstrates composites using frozen water and .... toilet paper :)
not to leave Professor Randolph alone - I stepped up with a science experiment of my own :)
demonstrating how baking soda reacts (or doesn't) with different liquids (milk, oil, orange juice, vinegar, lemon juice)

crafty creations

i made these bags for the kids to use as lunchboxes
the girls are going to help me pass out popcorn tomorrow afternoon at the boy's school to wrap up reading month - i thought it would be fun to dress them up for the occasion :) i'm going to put on my Cat and the Hat costume too!

Cherry Blossoms

the cherry blossom trees were amazing

i have to laugh at Helen's pants in the photo... they are actually her pajama pants... for some reason, i did not pack her long pants for the trip and it was cooler than we expected that day (the day before we all got sunburned and were sweating!) - so all i had for her to wear were pajama pants :)

an amazing quilt at Arlington National Cemetary
a view from the bridge near the cemetary

dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe!

a beautiful sunset - we had an amazing trip! i want to go back soon -- so good to be back in a big city again! we actually spent most of our trip outside - we need to go back to visit all the museums
sunset reflection on Capitoal Hill - Ross and I both got a chance to run around the city... such a beautiful place and so rich in history!
