one of my biggest fears in a triathlon --- a flat tire! Last Tuesday, I was riding on my trainer... and about 30 minutes into my ride the resistance seemed much harder. I knew my legs were tired from the back to back marathons last weekend, but not THAT tired. I leaned back and felt the tire! - it was flat. So I got off the bike and pumped up the tire. 20 minutes later - flat tire again! So, I went digging in my tri-bag to find my bento box with my repair kit that I carry with me. Then I decided to time myself to see how long it would actually take me to change the flat tire ---- 24 minutes - ugh! That would be a lot of race time wasted! BUT I DID it! I successfully changed the flat tire! ... and i'll be sure to add a couple of wet wipes to my bento box --- my hands were filthy! :)
On Mother's Day, my kids (and husband) knew they wouldn't find me in bed --- so when I got up at 4:15am to get in my 3.5 hour ride and 30 minute brick run before church - this is what I found on my bike :) They know me so well :)
a nice story from Helen
