Last night as I was tucking Helen into bed - she paused and looked at me... putting her hand on my cheek and said to me "mom, you are a winner in my book!" she overhead me earlier in the day talking to someone about my Kona Ironman Contest. I was telling them that I did not win. She wanted to be sure that I knew how she felt. It melted my heart.
I'll admit - I was a little disappointed when I got the news. But last I checked, I had over 2,200 views on my video! I can say with confidence that I put all my effort into getting the word out there --- I stepped out of my comfort zone many times throughout the voting process. I did something that was so hard for me ---- I asked people to do something for me :) yes, it was free, yes, it was easy and only took a few seconds --- but those who know me well KNOW that I don't like to ask people to do things for me :) I am stubborn! I also did a radio interview and I was SO nervous --- like the start of a race nervous! I am so thankful for all those who took the time to vote for me and sent me words of encouragement.
I know there is a plan out there for me ----- I must follow the journey and sometimes that is difficult for me. I have been working so hard on my training for my half-Ironman on August 4 (Steelhead in MI) and my big goal for the summer --- Ironman Louisville on August 25. I'm also registered for the New York City Marathon on November 3.
