fun in the yard

this spring we have enjoyed watching the tadpoles turn into frogs in the pond behind our house. earlier this spring, there must have been hundreds of little tadpoles swimming in the water... the last time we checked there weren't quite as many tadpoles ... perhaps the blue heron that "fishes" each morning has been having tadpoles for breakfast. along with frogs come lily pads. i have enjoyed seeing the pink lily pad flowers bloom this summer.

the kids have also enjoyed watching the birds during breakfast too.... it's especially entertaing on a morning when it's raining! lots of worms to gather!

there are 3 deer that are kept in a large caged area in the back part of our yard. the kids usually feed the deer bread at least once a week. in fact when i buy bread - helen says to me "bread for the deer?!"

i must admit that i have really enjoyed the "nature - type things" that we have so close to our house!
