helen has decided that every time i'm in the kitchen now - she needs to "help" me. so she runs to get the stool and stands right by me to help.... well as you can see from the picture - she does a little more "tasting" than helping - but i really enjoy having her in the kitchen :)
it reminds me of when i started "helping" my mom cook/bake in the kitchen... when i got old enough - i would bake cakes and then use the food coloring to "experiment" with different color frosting... purple was an interesting one :)
oh - here's the recipe for broccoli soup (given to me by my friend, anne)....it's yummy and super easy to make!! enjoy!
1 can chicken broth
1 small onion, diced
1/3 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
pepper to taste
2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese (the sharper the better for flavor)
1/2 c. shredded swiss cheese
steamed chopped broccoli (amount is based on preference)
simmer chicken broth and chopped onion for 15-20 minutes in a covered saucepan until onions are soft. heat milk in microwave for 1-2 minutes.
in a separate medium-sized stockpot, melt butter then add flour and pepper. cook together for a couple of minutes, then whisk in warmed milk. stir and heat together on medium-high heat until soup starts to thicken. next add chicken broth and continue to stir until well blended. add cheeses and steamed broccoli.
